EE voicemail is switched on by default on new SIMs, and everything — listening to messages, recording a personal greeting, changing your PIN — happens through one number: 222. On most phones you can skip the dialling entirely and just press and hold the 1 key. Below is the full walkthrough, including how to manage your greeting from abroad and how to get a professionally produced recording onto your EE line.
Open the phone app and call 222, or press and hold the 1 key — most handsets map it straight to voicemail. The call is free on all EE tariffs, including pay as you go. (Don't confuse it with 150, which is EE customer services.)
On your first call, the prompts walk you through creating a voicemail PIN. You'll need this PIN whenever you check messages from another phone or from abroad, so choose something memorable. To change it later: call 222, press * to skip to the main menu, then choose option 3 (settings and features) followed by option 3 again (change PIN).
From the voicemail main menu, select option 2. This is where you record a new personal greeting or switch back to the standard EE greeting.
Speak your greeting after the tone, then follow the prompts to listen back, re-record, or save. Keep it between 15 and 25 seconds — long enough to sound professional, short enough that callers stay on the line.
Already have a greeting and want to replace it? Dial 222, choose option 2 from the main menu, and record a new greeting — it overwrites the old one as soon as you save. You can change it as often as you like, which is handy for annual leave or bank holiday messages.
From any other UK phone, dial 07953 222222; from abroad, dial +44 7953 222222. You'll be asked for your mobile number and your voicemail PIN, then you get the same menu as at home — including option 2 for greetings. If you haven't set a PIN yet, do it before you travel.
Voicemail is on by default. If you want to switch it off entirely, dial ##002# and press call — this cancels all call diverts, so missed calls simply ring out. To re-enable the standard diverts, contact EE on 150 or use the EE app. iPhone users on EE also get Visual Voicemail in the Phone app, which lists messages on screen and includes a greeting recorder under Voicemail → Greeting.
EE records greetings through the handset, so there's no upload button — but there's a reliable workaround used by thousands of businesses:

First restart your phone. If voicemail still doesn't pick up, dial *#004# to check your call diverts are pointing at voicemail, or contact EE on 150 to have the service re-provisioned on your account.
